She practices from a client-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed framework. Celia is passionate about using art medium and the individual’s creative process to create a safe and non-judgmental space for them to engage in self-exploration, gain deeper understanding of themselves, process their stories and to empower them toward self-compassion, positive change and healing. Celia has experience working with Indigenous children and youth who have experienced loss and grief, intergenerational trauma, abuse, neglect, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. She has also worked with diverse populations dealing with struggles such as eating disorders, anxiety, loss and grief, and domestic violence. As a certified trainer in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) she has facilitated many workshops to equip educators and community leaders with suicide intervention skills. Celia’s past nursing experience in the intensive care unit enables her to understand the vicarious trauma and the emotional and health consequences that health care workers face. Some of the quotes that inspire her and her therapy work are: “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” --Albert Camus “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” --Carl Jung “Rock bottom became the solid foundation in which I can rebuild my life.” –J.K. Rowling When Celia is not working, she enjoys hot yoga, taking ballet lessons, and snuggling up with her two cats Nocturne and Adagio.
