Joelle is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Joelle has a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology; specialized training, supervision, and experience in the treatment of Eating Disorders. Joelle works using blended modalities, depending on the client’s specific needs. Joelle also has experience treating highly common concurrent issues that often align with eating disorders, such as Substance Use Disorder, other behavioural addictions, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma and more. Joelle also has experience treating children, youth, and adults. Joelle specializes in the transdiagnostic treatment of eating disorders - including work with those battling Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and other diagnosed or undiagnosed or unspecified eating disorders, in inpatient, outpatient and individual practice settings.
For eating disorders, behavioural change is often approached through evidence-based Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) but also she pairs this with DBT, mindfulness-based therapies (i.e., MBCT/ACT techniques) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) where relevant to support related or underlying needs. Joelle also reinforced a non-dieting approach and philosophy that acknowledges and addresses the role of weight bias within our social context and how that often influences all of our lives.
Joelle has broad experience working in the mental health field, including work in post-secondary, inpatient treatment programming, and outpatient treatment programming in addition to individual psychotherapy and private practice work.
“Although I l-o-v-e my work, and passionately pour a lot of time and energy into it, I also love spending time in nature ,taking on projects around the home, or exploring new activities and adventures I’ve never tried before, from sports to travel to hobbies like sewing or gardening.”
