Katie is passionate about working with children, adolescents, parents and families. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Katie recently completed her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Katie views client issues through a humanistic lens and believes in each individuals strength, potential for growth, and ability to overcome. This belief, along with a tremendous appreciation for the healing power of parents and families, creates a powerful combination for families dealing with challenges.
An integrative approach means Katie draws from her training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT for Children and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Katie provides clinical psychotherapy to individuals dealing with issues of emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, anxiety, depression and trauma. Emotion Focused Family Therapy allows Katie to support parents and caregivers of a loved one dealing with a mental health issue and Katie is truly passionate about this work.
Pairing instruction with intention, Katie dedicates time to helping others in Newmarket by volunteering with community meal programs. She has also co-facilitated group therapy on a voluntary basis.
Katie values and respects all genders, sexualities, ethnicities and religions creating an accepting and supportive environment for everyone.
In her spare time Katie loves cooking and spending time out doors.
