COVID-19 HEALTH ADVISORY
NOTICE TO ALL CLIENTS AND VISITORS OF THE TRAUMA CENTRE
At The Trauma Centre, we continue to weigh the pros and cons of how to safely continue to conduct our work amidst the ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic. Safety is of paramount importance for both clients and clinicians.
We acknowledge that therapy via phone or video is not the preferred way for many. We are all missing our face to face meetings. While we are endeavouring to provide for everyone’s best interest, it has meant significant changes to the way we can offer services.
Our regulatory bodies (College of Psychotherapy, Social Work and Psychologists) are all continuing to recommend the use of e-therapy to those who will derive benefit from it. This reduces the number of in-person contacts for everyone.
If an in-person session becomes necessary for a person’s safety/deteriorating mental health, our clinicians will use their clinical judgement to assess and decide which services could be safely provided in-person. This decision-making will be carefully and diligently guided by all recommended health and safety precautions to minimize harm and ensure safety for all.
When an in-person session is deemed necessary, clients will be provided with a copy of a document they will be required to sign outlining that they understand the risks, and the processes and policies that have been put into place. They will be required to undergo a screening prior to the session, including having their temperature taken. Where it is at all possible, sessions will be conducted outdoors or using vehicles parked a distance apart with windows rolled down to talk.
At the Trauma Centre, we have implemented procedures to ensure that the necessary infection control measures are in place. To be prepared for when we can return to in-person sessions, the physical space has been re-arranged and modified with safety measures such as the installation of plexiglass in common areas. There is a strict sanitizing policy and all of the necessary products readily available.
It is our hope that with the measures the many levels of government have put into place, we can all work together to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of the virus to make our communities safe again. We look forward to a time we can all meet face-to-face at our Centre.
