PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID
Critical incidents are significant and often dramatic events that can result in acute psychological stress for emergency responders who provided front line services related to the incident or its aftermath. Examples of critical incidents include motor vehicle collisions, death of a colleague in the line of duty, fatal shootings or other forms of violent crime, physical or sexual assaults of children, natural disasters, or large scale violence due to war or conflict.
Emergency Responders include:
- Fire fighters
- Emergency Department staff
Our team provides interventions including education, training, stress management, and other therapeutic supports to emergency response teams following critical incidents. These interventions include a structured approach to supporting emergency responders in an effort to reduce the potential immediate and long term impact of trauma.
