Anita is a registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Canadian Registry of Marriage and Family Therapy. Her education background includes a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. Anita has training and over twenty years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples and families and children. Some of the treatment models Anita uses are AEDP, EMDR, Narrative therapy, CBT, CPT, Mindfulness, and somatic therapy. Anita is a Level three AEDP practitioner with over ten years of experience working with childhood attachment issues and complex trauma. Repeated exposure to traumatic experiences can leave us feeling broken and unable to cope. Repeated trauma results in loss of neuroplasticity and causes emotional constriction. AEDP is a neuroscience and body based therapy that effectively helps the brain gain neuroplasticity and helps the body undo and process the physical footprint of trauma. Through AEDP, Anita works with her clients to become stronger at the broken places and to discover places within themselves that have always been strong, places that were never broken. Through AEDP, EMDR, and other therapies, Anita helps clients reconnect to resilience, hope, and feel fully alive again. Anita also has help from Phoebe, her resident therapy dog. Phoebe is a trained hypo-allergenic Barbet who delights in helping clients feel safe and grounded. “In addition to the joy I find in my work, I also love kayaking, hiking, gardening, reading, and quality time with my husband and family.”
